The Cabinet Secretary for Transport , Infrastructure, Housing, Urban Development and Public Works James W. Macharia vide Gazette Notice no. 2163 appointed Qs. David Mwangi Gaitho to be the Chairperson of the Board of the National Construction Authority, for a period of three years with effect from 20th January, 2020.
Qs. Gaitho has previously served on the Board as a representative of the Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK). He is a seasoned expert in the construction industry, having worked in both the public and private sectors for over 26 years. In addition to being a registered quantity surveyor with the Board of Registration of Architects and Quatity Surveyors (BORAQS), Qs. Gaitho is a a Fellow Member of IQSK, a Professional Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and a Corporate Member of the Institution of Construction Project Managers (ICPMK). Gaitho has served professional associations with distinction, previously as Chairman of IQSK and currently as the President of the Africa Association of Quantity Surveyors (AAQS).
The Authority’s new Vice Chair is Eng. Zipporah Rotich, who was previously serving on the Board as a representative of The Kenya Association of Building Civil Engineering Contractors (KABCEC). Eng. Rotich is a registered Structural and Civil Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya. She has over 25 years of practicing experience in the construction industry, having been involved in diverse infrastructural projects within the East African Region.
Eng. Rotich has served on other Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Boards and holds a Masters Degree in Leadership Studies.
