Neulandt 3P in Kenya
Austrian based construction solutions provider, Neulandt GmbH, launched its first Kenyan show house at an event held at the Nairobi Polo Club on 22nd September, 2021.
The launch was graced by the Principal Secretary, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Charles Hinga, the Austrian Ambassador to Kenya, Dr. Christian Fellner, NCA’s Executive Director, Eng. Maurice Akech. NCA’s General Manager Research and Business Development, Qs. David Mathu, President of Umdasch group, Wolgang Litzlbauer, CEO of Umdasch Group Ventures GmbH, Werner H. Bittner.
In his address the PS elaborated all the milestones the government had achieved so far in its achievement of the Big 4 affordable housing agenda. “Proper housing is a social justice that is an absolute right, a non-negotiable. And so when we decided to do this the question had been around how to fund this social justice and what the sort of partnerships we had to seek out.”
He highlighted that this partnership was one of the ways the government was empowering its citizens to have choice in available housing technologies that would lower the cost of construction whilst maintaining high quality. “I am delighted that everything is coming together and all this is for you,” he reiterated.
On his part, ED encouraged the assemblage to visit the affordable housing village, pointing out that it had been PS Hinga’s brain child and was tasked to NCA as the regulator for implementation. “This is the 9th construction innovation showcased at the village aimed at enhancing continual information exchange on this platform.”
In implementing the affordable housing village concept, NCA provided space for entities with alternative building materials and technology to set up show houses at the Nairobi International Trade Fair grounds along Ngong Road
Neulandt portable precast plant (N3P) is a solution that enables precast concrete elements to be produced both economically and industrially on site enabling the merging of construction sites and production facilities.
Neulandt portable precast plant increases the need for local man power and minimizes transport requirements. Further, once the project is complete, the N3P structure can be dismantled and relocated to a different construction site.
The plant has been proven to deliver high levels of structural quality and achieve productivity and optimized work processes through Neulandt’s patented ‘butterfly technology’ that combines the advantages of horizontal works preparation and vertical pouring.
The launch was preceded by an initial site visit to the show house by the dignitaries present. Later, the entire assemblage was transported to the affordable housing village where they witnessed the opening of the 2 bedroomed house that had been put together in less than 24 hours with the concrete precast elements created with the steel butterfly formworks.
Contractors present at the launch earned 10CPD points license renewal during the 2022/23 practising license renewal period.
