View NCA’s Public Notice on the Covid-19 pandemic under “Downloads”
Public Works Principal Secretary Dr. Rtd. Major General Gordon Kihalangwa, CBS joined the National Construction Authority Board for a special meeting to chart a conclusive way forward with regards to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Authority has been following the various directives issued by the Government with a view to ensuring that staff and clients are kept informed and safe.
In furtherance of the directive issued by His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta on Sunday 15th March 2020, the Authority has taken several steps to ensure compliance, including continuing to offer services to the members of the public through its online platforms available via www.nca.go.ke.
In line with the directive banning all public gatherings, the Authority has suspended all planned contractor training programs as well as the training and upskilling programs for skilled construction workers and construction site supervisors until further notice.
The Authority will however continue to execute its mandate with regards to quality assurance and in line with the directives issued by the Ministry of Health. All contractors are advised to heed to those directives, which include provision of clean water, soap and hand sanitisers to all workers and visitors on site, introduction of signage at visible site locations containing Corona Virus prevention guidelines and ensuring that where possible workers maintain reasonable distance from each other. This can be done through working in shifts or rearranging the work schedule to accommodate social distancing.
Contractors are further advised to send home any workers exhibiting symptoms, especially a cough, fever or shortness of breath. Those affected should be referred to the nearest health facility.
The Authority shall continue to monitor the situation and implement any further directions issued by the Government as they arise. The Authority encourages all its stakeholders to strictly adhere to the Government directives and implement the necessary precautions needed to keep their staff members and members of the public safe during this period.
