NCA has commenced its artisan on-site training and accreditation program for the financial year 2016/2017. The program targets artisans and site supervisors. This years training is themed “Be sure, Jenga smart” and will be conducted by officers from NCA headquarters and its respective regional and liaison offices.
The training is part of NCA’s continued efforts to proactively effect our mandate which is to regulate the construction industry and coordinate its development, in a manner that benefits all stake holders of the fast developing Kenyan construction sector. It is also within the Authority’s mission of regulating, streamlining and capacity building the construction sector.
Under the theme “Be sure, Jenga smart”, artisans and site supervisors will get free training on the importance of; getting accredited, always using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while working and upholding professionalism at all times. The trainees will also be sensitized on their industrial rights.
The first training will take place in Central Nyanza region, which will have three venues namely; Kisumu, Siaya and Homa Bay. The sessions will be held on construction sites that are compliant with NCA’S Quality standards and requirements. The Authority aims to train and accredit at least 300 hundred people per venue as part of efforts to accredit 1.5 million artisans by the year 2020.
Requirements for accreditation are a copy of the national ID, passport size photo, technical certificates or a reference letter and an accreditation fee of 1000 shillings for artisans and 2000 shillings for site supervisors.
