National Construction Authority was among institutions that were feted during the 2019 Mombasa Business Awards after emerging top in the ‘Business Enabler of The Year’ category.
According to the awards’ organizers, the Mombasa Chapter of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, entrepreneurs and entities recognized by the Mombasa Business Awards are “people who seek out opportunities and have turned their ideas into action, vision into reality, creating a flow-on of success for those around them, generating employment and industry growth, driving the economy and Progressing society.” The event was graced by Cabinet Secretary for Tourism & Wildlife Najib Balala and other dignitaries.
The Authority had also in the month of November, emerged 2nd Runners Up in the Public Sector Entity Champion of Governance Award during the 10th Champions of Governance Awards having entered nomination in this and three other categories namely, Chairman of The Year Award; COG CEO of the Year Award and Company Secretary of The Year Award.
The Champions of Governance Awards is an initiative of the Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS) which has been running since 2010 that aims at promoting good governance practices through recognizing innovations in organizations that support good governance, Encouraging organizations to focus on enhancement of good governance and Promoting and recognizing research work in relation to good governance practices. Parameters that are evaluated include among others; Ethical Leadership, Corporate Citizenship, Accountability, Risk Management, Transparency and Disclosure.
NCA Regional Coordinator Eng. Kanda Bowen received the Mombasa Business Awards plaque on the Authority’s behalf during the awards gala dinner held on Friday 6th December at the Mama Ngina Waterfront NCA while General Manager Operations and Corporation Secretary Messrs. James Kilonzi and Samson Lukoba received the COG award plaque during a Gala Night held at Sarova Panafric Hotel on Friday 29th November.
